ADHD and Neurotransmitter Levels: ADHD is a common neurotransmitter-related
condition. Environmental and biological factors including stress, poor diet,
neurotoxins, or genetics can cause imbalances in the levels of neurotransmitter
chemicals in the brain. These imbalances may trigger or exacerbate ADHD symptoms.
By identifying neurotransmitter imbalances and understanding how neurotransmitters
function it is possible to bring chemical levels back into balance. This approach
can move those children, adolescents, and adults onto a healthy life path.
Prescription medications provide relief by working with the existing neurotransmitters,
but do not alter the overall neurotransmitter supply. Because they fail to
bring neurotransmitter levels back into proper balance, their effectiveness
is often limited.
